14th April 2008 - Waanyarra Camp Site - Dunolly Victoria

THERE’S GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS - Located about 32k North of Maryborough, midway between Dunolly and Tarnagulla is Waanyarra Campsite. Reached by driving about 3k down Waanyarra Cemetery Road is an open area among river gum trees that is suitable for all rigs. Long drop toilets are kept clean and two tanks provide ample water for washing. A shelter shed, fire places and tables are all provided and it’s well patronized by gold diggers. The state forest provides ample opportunity see seek the illusive gold nugget and tracks to fossiking locations are numerous. We found this a great spot to swap good luck stories and have a bit of a skite about finds like the “Welcome Stranger”.
