30th October 2009 - Bourkes Bend State Forest - Cobram / Yarrawonga District

Accessed from the Murray Valley Highway at 19k West of Yarrawonga or 18k South East of Cobram, these 3 campsites all front the Murray River. Campsite No. 1, we found to be the most ideal although there are no facilities provided and is restricted to Self Contained Camping.

Campsite No 3 is listed in Camps Australia Wide No. 5 Site No. Vic. - 302.

The other sites are not listed in Camps Australia Wide

Campsite No 2 has a table and is smaller than sites 1 and 3.
The access to the river is not as good as Site 1.

Campsite No 3 has a pit toilet, and is a large level area with easy access to the river,
but not as good as Camp Site No 1

All sites have shade and very pleasant outlooks. Swimming and boating is permitted although fishing in the river is prohibited from September to November inclusive.

The tracks to the campsites are a bit rough but with care, and when dry,
it’s not too much of a problem

24th October 2009 - The Forest Camp - Warby Range State Park

Located about 21k North West of Wangaratta and reached by travelling along Boweya Rd and then North along Camp Road is Forest Camp Camping area. This level, shaded, well laid out camping area has a large shelter shed, tank water suitable for washing, a long drop toilet, picnic tables and wood fire BBQ’s. There are several bush walks including Spring Track that is an easy walk for anybody and takes you through an Iron Bark Forest with low new growth bushes. Wild flowers are scattered throughout the area and there are plenty of birds for birdwatchers. The dirt track to the campsites is very good with few corrugations. We enjoyed our stay here over a weekend and had no visitors either day trippers or overnighters.

21st October 2009 - Edi Cutting Camp Area

This beautiful camping area on the banks of the King River close to Edi, approximately 10k South Of Moyhu and about 14k North of Whitfield has numerous camping sites all in close proximity to the river which is excellent for trout fishing. During our stay, the river was in partial flood and we could not access the prime part of the area, however, the local ranger informed us that it was much better than where we were at the northern end of the park. Long drop toilets are the only facilities provided in this level, well grassed area that is extremely popular during the holiday season... We recommend this location for an extended stay if in the district.

8th May 2008 - Powers Lookout Reserve - Whitfield District - Vic

Located 8k South of Whitfield on Mansfield / Whitfield Road and reached by travelling along a gravel road for 3.7k, Powers Lookout Reserve is a must when travelling in this district. There are plenty of fire places, tables, a shelter shed, long drop toilets, tank water, ample room for overnight camping and excellent lookout platforms along short walking tracks. Cut firewood is also supplied and the views of the King Valley are mind boggling. We recommend you take the time to have a look and be rewarded with snow capped mountain views in the snow season.

27th July 2006 - Bright District, Victoria.

Travelling around the snow fields between Wodonga and Omeo via Bright and Mount Beauty in Victoria was a sight to behold even though the snow falls were very poor for this time of the year. Several rest areas including Nug Nug Reserve and Mongans Bridge Camping Park are good places to use as bases to explore the area. Nug Nug was $3.50 pppn (cold showers) and Mongans Bridge $63.00 per week for a powered site and the free use of a washing machine (hot showers). For those wishing to stay for 12 months at Mongans Bridge, the cost is about $600.00 (Approx $12.50 per week for a powered site). For more details about this park, please send an email and I will get back to you. Below are some of the scenic photos of Bright and the surrounding district. Please enjoy.
